SATELLITE MEASUREMENTS OF PRECIPITATION INTENSITY AND THEIR VERIFICATION

چکیده

The main focus of this study was to establish the feasibility working with intensity data individual events very heavy precipitation (50 mm or more in 12 hours less) observed over territory Ukraine using remote sensing (satellite GPM IMERG), as well verification satellite ground station (self-recording rain gauge data). consisted processing and maps – IMERG products, building tables graphs based on them, calculating statistical indices evaluating them. A total 7 parameters were involved, namely systematic error (bias), mean absolute (e ̅), quadratic (sound), Pearson correlation coefficient (r), factor 2 (FA2), 5 (FA5), Index Agreement (IOA). calculation carried out both for cases daily totals. In cases, unsatisfactory results obtained. Statistical links between series are insignificant, data, when assessing flat territories Ukraine, demonstrate significant errors, which can be caused by a discrepancy itself kind use, shift terms coordinates, time collection. Therefore, additional research is needed, search new improvement proposed methodological approaches analysis information.

Evaluation of Precipitation Products of TRMM Satellite in Precipitation and Erosion Rate Monitoring across Iran

Extended abstract 1- Introduction     In order to calculate the erosive power of rainfall, high-resolution precipitation data are necessary for rainfall erosion evaluation. However, collecting the required data on kinetic energy of the rainfall particles and precipitation rates with short-term temporal resolution is a time-intensive task, particularly in developing countries, and the collecte...

Precipitation Characteristics of Trade Wind Clouds during RICO Derived from Radar, Satellite and Aircraft Measurements

Precipitation characteristics of trade-wind clouds over the Atlantic Ocean near Barbuda are derived from radar and aircraft data and compared with satellite-observed cloud fields collected during the Rain In Cumulus over the Ocean (RICO) field campaign. S-Band reflectivity measurements were converted to rainfall rates using a Z-R relationship derived from aircraft measurements. Daily rainfall r...

verification of mm5 forecast precipitation over iran

during the last several years, application of numerical weather prediction models in the country have become common in both research and operations, even though systematic verification of the models’ results using statistical methods has rarely been conducted (sodoudi et al. 2009). this paper aims at comparing the mm5 24-hour precipitation forecasts with the corresponding observations using sta...

Investigation of Behavior and Trend of Nitrogen Dioxide in Tehran Using OMI Satellite Sensor Measurements

Air pollution is one of the most important problems in the world’s major cities in the last century because it endangers human health and the environment. One of the indicators of air pollution is nitrogen dioxide, which is continuously measured by satellite from space and via ground-based instruments. In this paper, the data for nitrogen dioxide was measured by OMI over Tehran. Wind, surface t...
